I am a public health specialist and a development consultant, having extensive and diverse experience in Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, Maternal and Perinatal Mortality, Verbal Autopsies, and Information Systems. I have served at various management, and academic positions with the Government of Pakistan, and UN agencies. My notable experience includes working as a consultant with the Planning Commission of Pakistan, WHO, UNDP, and UNESCAP for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics.

Conduct a desk review of the available literature on international best practices for the registration of a vulnerable population and analyze the gaps in current CRVS registration practices, the barriers and enablers in the registration of vulnerable population. Mapping of the current data sources, and review of the existing standards used for data disaggregation, data quality, data dissemination in Pakistan.

I was the consultant for the adaptation of WHO 2014 Verbal Autopsy tools and training of Lady Health Supervisors on Verbal Autopsy. I successfully facilitated a consultation process among the Government of Pakistan and UN agencies for the national adaptation of WHO 2014 Verbal Autopsies tools. The project involved the National Ministry of Health Services Regulation and Coordination, provincial health departments, Lady Health Workers Program, and UN agencies.

During my PhD research, a maternal and perinatal mortality surveillance system was established in a rural district of Pakistan and a cohort of 51,690 women aged 18–49 years, with 7,580 pregnancies were registered. Community workers were trained in verbal autopsy tools (WHO 2012 ver) and performed verbal autopsies on 522 perinatal and 18 maternal deaths in the study population. Completeness the data (mortality estimates) were assessed using capture re-capture methods.
